For my piece, I decided to focus on the life of Dr. Pressly. As I began my research, I read about Dr. Pressly, his vision for Westminster, his life, and how he developed his ideas and experiences into the school we know today. He was a very inspiring man, and his morals and convictions gave Westminster its current reputation and standards. I was inspired to see the man who founded the school, and see his life and how he started Westminster. Because of that, I wanted to use my art piece to honor him. The piece shows his personal journey through time in one place, the school. With each layer, I made changes to him and to a column representing the school. I added shadows to the column and wrinkles to his face, showing his personal connection to the school as they aged together. He was such an integral part of the school that I liked the idea of them aging and changing and growing simultaneously. I wanted to use my art to honor Dr. Pressly and show the development of our school through our founder.
